She worked in Brussels for many years as a studio-artist, recording amongst others with Dani Klein (Vaya Con Dios), Twee Belgen ... but also playing as a solo artists or with some friends in small bars.

In 1990 she gets the chance to record a single of her own : it becomes "C'est extra" by Frenchman Leo Ferré. The strange combination of the French lyrics sung with a Texas-accent and the power of her voice make it a small hit. An earlier single "Backstreet girl" (of 1988) hadn't done anything.

Soon afterwards she can release her debut album, which is very well received by the Belgian press and audiences. Songs like "Hey nana", "Heavenly lover" and "O(verwheming) desire" become at least radio-hits.

With her strong Texas-accent and the clearly distinguishable gospel-influences in her music, the second album "Mudcakes" sounds even more like an American product than the first one.

Things got quieter around Beverly Jo after that. She recorded a live album in 1995, recapturing her previous hits, but then a few years of radio-silence followed.

In 1997, Beverly Jo has toured in her homecountry - The United States - and has released an album called "Beverly Jo Scott coming home", a retrospective. She also has recorded a brand new album that will be released sometime soon. (Alain Weiler, who informed me from Germany about this news says "It is a killer and will be very different from her others").

Early 1999 however, the CD "Amnesty for Eve" was finally there. Preceded by a duet with Belgian singer Arno, an original blending of "The Jean Genie" by David Bowie and "La fille du père Noël" by Jacques Dutronc as "Jean-Balthasar", the album proved to be quite different from her earlier, bluesy, work.
